David Arrasmith was appointed Assessor by the Jackson County Board of Commissioners in November 2016 to fill a vacancy created when the prior Assessor resigned.
Also in the November 2016 general election David was elected to a four year term beginning January 2017.
David graduated from Leigh High School in San Jose, CA. A couple years after high school graduation David served his country as a member of the United States Army. After leaving the Army he enrolled in San Jose State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
David moved to the Rogue Valley in 1978, and loves working and living here, and raised his family here.
Before being elected Assessor, David worked in the assessor’s office specializing in commercial and industrial property appraisals. His expertise also includes appraisals of residential properties and appraisals of business personal property. He has taken over 500 hours of continuing education courses related to appraising most types of properties, and has taken many classes specific to understanding Oregon’s complex property tax statutes.
