Establish Paternity

Paternity is the process of establishing a legal father for a child.  The process usually begins with our receipt of an Affidavit in Support of Establishing Paternity.  This initiates a legal action for paternity establishment, and may include child support and a medical order.  If a party requests a paternity test we will arrange for the mother, father and child to be genetically tested.  The paternity legal process usually takes from three to four months. When the father and mother agree on parentage, paternity may be legally established by the joint completion of a “Voluntary Acknowledgement of Paternity” form, which can be done in our office and results in an immediate paternity establishment.
