The World Health Organization officially declared an end to Ebola transmission in Sierra Leone on November 7th. Ebola transmission continues in Guinea.
Travelers from Sierra Leone will still be funneled through one of the five U.S. screening airports. Interviewing and monitoring these travelers is optional unless they also traveled to Guinea. They’ll be directed to watch their own health and call local public health if they develop symptoms consistent with Ebola.
Oregon Health Authority will continue to receive notifications about returned travelers from Sierra Leone and will share them with local public health authorities. The medical community is still being encourage to inquire with patients about their recent travels.
