Wheeler Road Project Update - Nov 27, 2017

Today the final paving of the approaches to this structure were completed and with that milestone finished the bridge is now open for public use.  The long-standing detour has been removed and travelers can now get back to using this crossing.

Some final work remains as listed below, but this work will have minimal impacts on travel and can be accomplished with temporary construction zones.

Yet to come are the finishing touches of:

  • Guardrail sections on the approaches
  • Shouldering up to the new asphalt edge
  • Site cleanup
  • Final striping (temporary striping will be in place through the winter until warm weather returns for final painting)

Many thanks to the residents most impacted by this project who had a detour in place since the old bridge was removed - your patience has been appreciated.
