JCSO SAR coordinates the highly successful “Lost but Found Children’s Education Program”, with Search and Rescue volunteers making presentations to thousands of school children every year! Over a three year average the program has been presented 150 times to over 7,000 participants within Jackson County. Lost but Found Presentations have far exceeded our goals.
Presentations are ongoing, offered to all Jackson County Schools, both public and private; and all youth organizations. We continue to present the program quarterly at the Santo Community Center provided to us by Medford Parks and Recreation. This enables us to offer the program on a seasonal basis to Community Organizations, individuals, and families. Participants receive the most current information regarding survival skills if they should become lost or separated from family or friends. We visit Rogue Valley Medical Center Pediatrics Center during our now semi-annual “Holiday Cheer”. Members of Search and Rescue donate their time to visit children of trauma, surgery, and life threatening illness. This is a heartwarming event for all involved.
