Search Underway For Missing Runner

ASHLAND – Jackson County Search and Rescue personnel are scouring the roads and trails above Lithia Park for a missing runner. Todd David Ragsdale, 46, of Talent, told his wife he was going for a light run or hike at about 10:30 am Thursday.

After Ragsdale failed to answer his phone or return home, friends went looking for him. His vehicle was located in a parking area above the park. Ragsdale was reported missing to Ashland Police at about 3:30 pm. JCSO was called to assist with the search. The search area is mostly outside the city limits in a network of off-road trails.

SAR ground crews and canine teams are currently searching the area. Dozens of citizens – mostly fellow runners – have also arrived to help. A helicopter will be used to search, weather permitting.

Ragsdale is an avid runner who frequently runs in the area. He is 5’ 10" tall and weighs 165 pounds. He has red hair and blue eyes. He was believed to be wearing a black beanie cap, a green jacket with the words "Rogue Valley Runners," running shorts, and bright green running shoes. Ragsdale is known to wear a Star Wars buff (head band).

Search managers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen Ragsdale since Thursday morning. Those with information can call dispatch at (541) 776-7206. Reference case 16-1873.
