Teen Arrested in Butte Falls School Incident

UPDATE: Date of occurrence corrected to March 14, 2018.

---

BUTTE FALLS, Ore. - A teenager is in custody after threatening employees at Butte Falls Charter School. Nobody was injured in the Wednesday incident, which prompted a school lockdown.

On March 14, 2018, at 11:46 a.m., school officials called 911 for assistance with an out-of-control student. They reported they had gone into lockdown and a 13-year-old boy armed with bricks and various tools was threatening staff members. Most of the incident occurred outside of the school after the lockdown.

A short time after the 911 call, the teen's parents arrived and were able to gain control of the teen. Deputies arrived and took the suspect into custody without further incident.

During the response, dispatch received an additional call reporting second-hand information from inside the school. The caller indicated a student was relaying information that shots had been fired. However, deputies confirmed that no shots were fired during the incident.

The teen was transported to the Jackson County juvenile detention facility for lodging on charges of menacing and second degree disorderly conduct.
