COVID-19 Updates - August 5, 2021

Jackson County Public Health continues to see a sharp increase in the number of new COVID-19 cases, COVID-19 outbreaks, and people hospitalized for COVID-19 at an alarming rate.

Daily COVID-19 Cases

Today Jackson County Public Health is reporting 59 new cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 a.m. on August 5, 2021, bringing the total cases in Jackson County to 13,298.

COVID-19 Hospitalizations

For Region 5 (Jackson and Josephine Counties), as of 11:00 a.m. on August 5, 2021, there are 98 hospitalized patients with COVID-19. There are 32 patients with COVID-19 in the intensive care unit.

COVID-19 Related Deaths

Jackson County Public Health reports 2 new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total to 162 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Jackson County’s 161st COVID-19 death is an 81-year-old man who tested positive on July 28 and died on August 4 at his residence. They had underlying conditions.

Jackson County’s 162nd COVID-19 death is a 35-year-old man who tested positive on July 29 and died on August 3 at Providence Medford Medical Center. They had underlying conditions.

COVID-19 Workplace Outbreak

The OHA reports workplace outbreaks that have a minimum of 30 workers with at least 5 associated cases of COVID-19. This includes workers and their close contacts (e.g., household members, family, and friends). The OHA is publishing data on cases and deaths in care facilities, senior living communities, and congregate living settings that have three or more confirmed COVID-19 cases or one or more deaths.

Jackson County Public Health is investigating a COVID-19 outbreak associated with Carestream Health. Jackson County Public Health began investigating this as a potential outbreak on July 16, 2021. At this time, there are 5 cases linked to this outbreak. This is an ongoing investigation.

Jackson County Public Health is investigating a COVID-19 outbreak associated with Lighthouse Worldwide. Jackson County Public Health began investigating this as a potential outbreak on July 30, 2021. At this time, there are 6 cases linked to this outbreak. This is an ongoing investigation.

Jackson County Public Health is investigating a COVID-19 outbreak associated with Costco. Jackson County Public Health began investigating this as a potential outbreak on July 30, 2021. At this time, there are 7 cases linked to this outbreak. This is an ongoing investigation.

Jackson County Public Health is investigating a COVID-19 outbreak at Bartlett House of Medford Memory Care Community. Currently, this outbreak has a total of 3 cases. This is an ongoing investigation.
