There has been much attention on the COVID-19 vaccine booster shot and third dose. Here is some information on how to tell if you need another dose of the COVID19 vaccine.
Did you receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine?
If yes, then you may be eligible for a booster vaccine six months after your second dose if you are one of the following:
Are you immunocompromised?
If you answered yes, and you received the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine:
- You need a total three doses of the same mRNA vaccine – either Pfizer or Moderna.
- You should get a third dose of the vaccine at least 28 days after your second dose.
- All three doses count as your initial vaccine series.
If you get a third dose, you do not need a booster shot.
Weekly Number of New COVID-19 Cases
As of 12:01 a.m. on October 4, 2021, the total number of new COVID-19 cases for the last three days is 152. For week 39 (September 26 – October 2), Jackson County Public Health reported 465 new COVID-19 cases. This is a 16% decrease from the previous week.
COVID-19 Hospitalizations for Region 5 (Jackson and Josephine Counties)
As of 10:00 a.m. on October 4, 2021, the number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 is 81, and there are 30 patients with COVID-19 in the intensive care unit.
The total number of patients in hospital beds may fluctuate between report times. The numbers do not reflect admissions per day nor the length of hospital stay. Staffing limitations are not captured in this data and may further limit bed capacity.
COVID-19 Related Deaths
Jackson County Public Health reports 2 new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total to 282 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Jackson County’s 281st COVID-19 death is a 76-year-old woman who died on September 20 at their residence. The death certificate listed COVID-19 disease or SARS-CoV-2 as a cause of death or a significant condition contributing to death. They had underlying health conditions.
Jackson County’s 282nd COVID-19 death is a 56-year-old man who tested positive on August 20 and died on September 26 at Rogue Regional Medical Center. They had underlying health conditions.
