COVID-19 Updates - October 6, 2021

This is the last week to access COVID-19 immunizations and testing through the Mobile Vaccination Unit (MVU), located at the Jackson County Expo. The last day for the MVU will be Friday, October 8.

Vaccination and testing through the MVU is open from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. All three COVID19 vaccines will be available. ID or insurance information is not required at this site, and individuals will not be asked to provide this information. Services will be accessible through Gate 2 of the Expo.

For people interested in getting tested, pre-registration is encouraged. To register, go to www.doineedacovid19test.com, or registration can be done on-site.

For anyone that is vaccinated at the MVU and will need to complete the COVID-19 vaccination series or get a booster dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at one of the providers below.

Daily Number of New COVID-19 Cases

As of 12:01 a.m. on October 6, 2021, Jackson County Public Health is reporting 102 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total cases in Jackson County to 22,145.

COVID-19 Hospitalizations for Region 5 (Jackson and Josephine Counties)

As of 9:30 a.m. on October 6, 2021, the number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 is 69, and there are 26 patients with COVID-19 in the intensive care unit.

The total number of patients in hospital beds may fluctuate between report times. The numbers do not reflect admissions per day nor the length of hospital stay. Staffing limitations are not captured in this data and may further limit bed capacity.

COVID-19 Related Deaths

Jackson County Public Health reports 2 new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total to 289 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Jackson County’s 288^th COVID-19 death is an 84-year-old woman who tested positive on September 10 and died on October 4 at Ashland Community Hospital. They had underlying health conditions.

Jackson County’s 289^th COVID-19 death is a 57-year-old man who tested positive on September 25 and died on October 5 at Rogue Regional Medical Center. They had no known underlying health conditions.
