Jackson County COVID-19 Weekly Press Release - March 29, 2021

On Friday, March 26, 2021, Governor Kate Brown announced another update to Oregon's accelerated COVID-19 vaccine eligibility schedule. Phase 1B, Group 7 will now be eligible the week of April 5, 2021, instead of April 19.

Starting today, Phase 1B, Group 6, is now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

March 29 Phase 1B, Group 6, which includes:

  • Adults 45-64 with one or more underlying health conditions with increased risk
  • Migrant and seasonal farmworkers
  • Seafood and agricultural workers
  • Food processing workers
  • People living in low-income senior housing, senior congregate and independent living
  • Individuals experiencing houselessness (sheltered and unsheltered)
  • People currently displaced by wildfires
  • Wildland firefighters
  • Pregnant people 16 and older

April 5, Group 7 will become eligible:

  • Frontline workers as defined by the CDC
  • Multigenerational household members
  • Adults 16-44 with one or more underlying health conditions with increased risk

On May 1, we will open eligibility to all people in Oregon, 16 and older.

COVID-19 Two-Week Case Data

For weeks 11 & 12 (3/14/2021–3/27/2021), there were a total of 358 new COVID-19 cases. This is a case rate of 161.8 cases per 100,000 population.

COVID-19 Vaccine

The Jackson County Public Health COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic has moved its operations from 140 South Holly Street to the Jackson County Expo. This location will allow Jackson County Public Health to increase its vaccination throughput.

The Jackson County Public Health COVID-19 vaccination site is a walk-through clinic; it is NOT a drive-through vaccination site. Appointments are required; we ask that people not show up if they do not have an appointment. Anyone eligible to be vaccinated per Oregon's eligibility criteria can be vaccinated at this site. Insurance is not required at this location. This vaccination site is currently only offering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

To schedule an appointment at the Jackson County Public Health vaccination site at the Expo, please go to the Jackson County Health and Human Services COVID-19 Vaccine website: https://jacksoncountyor.org/hhs/General/News-Information/covid-19-vaccine-1 and select the Jackson County Public Health option.

It's important for people in Jackson County to understand that all COVID-19 vaccines are safe and the most effective way to stop the spread of the virus.
