Jackson County Public Health reports 46 new COVID-19 cases as of 12:01 am on March 3, 2021. Additionally, 4 previously reported cases have been removed from the total COVID-19 cases, and 1 case was added with a previous reporting date. These updates bring the total COVID-19 cases to 8,488.
COVID-19 Deaths
Jackson County Public Health reports 1 new COVID-19 death, bringing the total to 114 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Jackson County's 114th COVID-19 death is a 65-year-old woman who tested positive on January 18 and died on February 28 at Rogue Regional Medical Center. The patient had underlying health conditions.
COVID-19 Hospitalizations
The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 in Region 5 (Jackson and Josephine Counties) is 28, decreased by 1 from the previous day. There are 6 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU), increased by 2 from the previous day.
The total number of patients in hospital beds may fluctuate between report times. The numbers do not reflect admissions per day, nor the length of hospital stay. Staffing limitations are not captured in this data and may further limit bed capacity.

COVID-19 Vaccine Updates
Jackson County Public Health has received 600 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Jackson County Public Health is working on getting this vaccine allotment out to eligible populations that may be hard to reach, have barriers to accessing the vaccine, and would be challenging to provide a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
People 65 and older are currently eligible to receive the vaccine. There is still a vaccine supply shortage; therefore, eligible individuals may not get a vaccine appointment as quickly as they would like.
Jackson County Public Health is hopeful that the vaccine supply chain will increase in late March and April, allowing for more vaccines to be distributed to Jackson County and increasing access to the vaccine. Jackson County Public Health and our healthcare partners are encouraged by the number of people wanting to be vaccinated, and we are all eager to provide the vaccine. We appreciate the community's patience; we are all doing the best we can – as fast as we can – with the available resources we have.

Continue to Wear a Mask, Wash Your Hands and Watch Your Distance
Jackson County Public Health understands that people are ready to resume life as it was before the pandemic. Even though the vaccine provides us hope that society will operate as it did before the pandemic, we must continue using all the tools available to help stop this pandemic as we learn more about how COVID-19 vaccines work in real-world conditions. Letting our guard down against preventing the spread of COVID-19 will increase the risk of COVID-19 spreading in Jackson County, which will put Jackson County at a higher risk level and jeopardize people's health.

- Stay at least 6 feet away from others
- Avoid crowds
- Avoid poorly ventilated spaces
- Wash your hands often
