Jackson County Public Health reports 8 new COVID-19 cases as of 12:01 am on February 8, 2021. This update brings the total COVID-19 cases to 7,745.
COVID-19 Hospitalizations
The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 in Region 5 (Jackson and Josephine Counties) is 22, decreasing by 2 from the previous day. There are 5 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU), no change from the previous day.
The total number of patients in hospital beds may fluctuate between report times. The numbers do not reflect admissions per day, nor the length of hospital stay. Staffing limitations are not captured in this data and may further limit bed capacity.

Pfizer Second Dose Vaccination Event at the Jackson County Expo
This week, Jackson County, Asante, the National Guard, and Providence will provide the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine for ONLY individuals vaccinated at the Jackson County Expo on January 21, 22, or 23. The drive-through vaccination event will be at the Jackson County Expo on February 11, 12, and 13, from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Who is eligible to receive the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the Jackson County Expo on February 11, 12, 13?
If you are 80 and older or in the other eligible phases and need the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, you cannot be vaccinated at the Jackson County Expo and will be turned away. This event will NOT have the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine available. The vaccine available at this event is ONLY for second dose vaccinations for individuals that received their first dose at the Jackson County Expo in January.
If you are currently not eligible per Oregon’s prioritization to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, Phase 1B 3-5, front line workers, and the general population, you will be turned away.
If you are not currently eligible to be vaccinated at this event, please do not show up at closing hours to receive leftover vaccine. The vaccine provided at this event is the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine, first dose vaccination will not be available, and there will not be leftover vaccine. You will be turned away if you are not eligible.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update
You can help make the vaccination process better for Oregon seniors
Since the start of the pandemic, Oregon has prioritized protecting seniors. While every COVID-19 fatality is tragic, Oregon has the second-lowest COVID-19 infection rate among seniors, and the third-lowest death rate among seniors, in the nation.
Your partnership has helped save lives. We are committed to sharing information with you as we continue to roll-out Oregon's vaccination program. We hope you will keep seniors, family members, and caregivers informed, stay patient and keep safe as we work together to vaccinate every older Oregonian. It will also be important that you are available to help seniors schedule their COVID-19 vaccination appointment and provide safe transportation for them if needed.
Currently, the COVID-19 vaccine supply is very limited in Oregon. With this short supply and high demand, we know more seniors will want to get vaccinated than vaccines available to them in the coming weeks. This means that every older adult will not be able to get an appointment as soon as they want one. The Jackson County Health and Human Services COVID-19 Vaccine website will be updated over the next couple of days with locations where 80 and older individuals can access the vaccine. Again, with the short supply of vaccine, these appointments will be limited until vaccine supply increases.
Oregon will open vaccines to all seniors over a four-week period starting with:
- Phase 1B, Group 2: people 80 and older are eligible the week of February 8, 2021
- Phase 1B, Group 3: people 75 and older are eligible the week of February 15, 2021
- Phase 1B, Group 4: people 70 and older are eligible the week of February 22, 2021
- Phase 1B, Group 5: people 65 and older are eligible the week of March 1, 2021
