On March 16, 2016, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners adopted  Emergency  Ordinance No. 2016-4, effective the same day, which provides regulations related to marijuana uses.   This Emergency Ordinance comes after countless hours of public testimony heard by both the Jackson County Planning Commission as well as the Jackson County Board of Commissioners and hundreds of pages of public testimony collected during the land use proceedings.   The new marijuana laws provide regulations for both those involved in recreational as well as the medical marijuana production (growing), processing, wholesaling (for recreational marijuana only) and retail sales/medical marijuana dispensing.   The Emergency Ordinance will be deemed automatically repealed 120 days from its enactment, or  on July 13, 2016.

The first reading of the permanent Ordinance No. 2016-3 was held on March 16, 2016.  The second reading and public hearing will take place on April 20, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. in the Jackson County Courthouse Auditorium located at 10 S. Oakdale in Medford.  Please note that the only public testimony that will be accepted is whether the planning staff prepared an Ordinance per the Board of Commissioners’ instructions and whether there are any scriveners errors.  When adopted on April 20, 2016, permanent Ordinance No. 2016-3 will go into effect on June 20, 2016.

The amendments to the County’s Land Development Ordinance, Chapters 3, 4, 6 and 13 are highlighted in the following pages.
