PreTrial Supervision Program

The PreTrial Supervision Program was created to help reduce the failure to appear rate on individuals charged with a crime and who are awaiting trial. Additionally, this program helps monitor compliance of court ordered conditions of release, helps prevent repeat offenses and allows the defendant the right to proceed with a normal life while awaiting trial.

At the recommendation of the State Release Office, those defendants arrested for felonies and misdemeanors are released or are allowed to bail out prior to their scheduled court appearance. Upon their release, the judge may impose certain conditions to protect the victim and the community and to ensure the defendant appears for trial as directed.

An example of conditions that may be imposed by the Court are:

  • Reporting to the Local Control Unit;
  • No contact with the victim or co-defendants;
  • Urinalysis testing;
  • No intoxicants and/or weapons;
  • Polygraph testing to verify compliance.

In cases that may present a threat to the community or a flight risk, electronic monitoring is coupled with weekly check-in to enable the PreTrial Supervision Unit the ability to maintain closer contact with the defendant.

Defendants will be assessed a monthly $25.00 supervision fee.
