
Intake probation staff are often the first contact with youth, families, and other agencies. Probation staff gather information from families, youth and community partners to assist with determining the level of supervision needed and the completion of a Juvenile Crime Prevention risk assessments (JCP) to determine the youth’s risk to re-offend. All this information will be used to determine how to proceed with the criminal offense.
Intake probation staff screen and assess new criminal cases and may refer the case to one of the following: to the juvenile's family for further action; to diversion programs; to a Formal Accountability Agreement; or to juvenile court.
Programs and services are designed to meet the needs of the victims, community and youth with an emphasis on restorative justice.
