I was arrested for DUII and have never had one before, what is this Diversion Program I am hearing about?

When you are a first time DUII offender, and meet certain criteria such as not having CDL, not injuring anyone while you were DUII, and a few others, the diversion program is a way to avoid a criminal conviction.  The program requires a plea of guilty or no contest to the DUII, and over a one year period involves, among other things, doing a drug and alcohol evaluation and following through with the recommended treatment from that evaluation.  For a more detailed explanation go the Jackson County Community Justice website.
