If you get a phone call, text message or email from Citizen Alert on September 8th, don’t be concerned – it’s a semi-annual test of our Emergency Notification System. The test is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in both Jackson and Josephine Counties.

Gov. Brown invokes Conflagration Act for Stouts Fire in Douglas County

Governor Kate Brown invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act at 9:50 this morning in response to the Stouts Fire burning 11 miles east of Canyonville in Douglas County.

The fire is approx. 6,000 acres and is threatening to exceed the firefighting capabilities of local firefighting personnel and equipment. The Governor’s declaration authorizes the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal to mobilize structural firefighters and equipment to assist local resources battling the fire.
