Each year the Finance Department puts together the County's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in compliance with state statutes and local charter provisions. These reports are audited in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards by an independent certified public accounting firm licensed to perform municipal audits in the state of Oregon.
GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
On August 12, 2021 Jackson County received its 38th consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Fiscal Year 2019-2020 ACFR.
The award recognizes excellence in year-end reporting for local governments that provide:
Comprehensive information;
Comparability with other local governments;
Clarity of data;
Data useful to bond market analysts and potential investors, and;
Supporting narrative and statistical information that help to disclose the economic condition of the local
government, in addition to the year-end snapshot of financial data.
In the words of the GFOA: “The attainment of a Certificate of Achievement represents a significant accomplishment for a government and its management."
Jackson County was the 1st Oregon county to earn this award and remains 1 of only 18% of the cities and counties in Oregon to do so. Nationally, only 6% of cities and counties have earned this award.
