Dr. John Mahan MD became the Chief Medical Officer and Health Officer for Jackson County Health & Human Services in 2023, following a period of service as Jackson County Mental Health’s Psychiatric Medical Director from 2016-2023. He is board certified in the areas of Addiction Medicine, Psychiatry, and Addiction Psychiatry by the American Board of Preventive Medicine and the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology. He is a past president of the Oregon Society of Addiction Medicine, and is a fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the American Psychiatric Association. He completed Fellowship training in Addiction Psychiatry and Residency training in Psychiatry at the University of Utah after receiving his Medical Degree from OHSU, the Oregon Health & Science University, and undergraduate degrees in Psychology, Linguistics, and General Science at the University of Oregon.
