The Animal Shelter is closed to the public for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. The following services are provided by phone or appointment only. Please do not bring animals to the Shelter without calling first.
► Lost and found animal reports are being taken by phone.
► Adoptions of cats and dogs are still being facilitated. Please look at the adoptable animals on Shelter’s website and then call to set up an appointment to meet the animal.
► Stray dogs are accepted, but please call first to see if a lost report for the dog has been filed. If not, an Animal Control officer can be sent to pick up the dog or an appointment can be set up to deliver the dog to the Shelter.
► Healthy stray cats can be accepted by appointment, only if the Shelter has room for them.
► Pregnant, ill, or injured stray cats will be accepted by appointment. However, the Shelter may not have the resources to save them.
► Surrenders of owned cats and dogs are only being taken in emergency situations. Owners are encouraged to hang on to their pets during this crisis to keep the Shelter available to house stray animals.
► Feral (wild) cats are no longer accepted and the Working Cat program has been suspended until further notice.
► Pet licenses can be purchased by mail, phone, or appointment.
► Donations of food, leashes, collars, and other pet-related items can still be dropped off at the Shelter. Please call first to make sure the items are needed.
At this time, additional volunteers are not needed, but that could change. Please call the Friends of the Animal Shelter at 541-774-6651 to be put on a list, in case future needs arise.
