Jackson County Animal Services has returned the stray animals to the shelter and will now be taking stray animals from the public as normal at this location during business hours. Owned displaced pets will remain in care at the Jackson County Expo until the end of the week.
Residents that find injured cats in the fire devastated areas may bring them to the shelter or may transport them directly to Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center on Biddle Road in Central Point. We are asking that the public consider leaving healthy, un-injured cats that they locate in the fire affected areas on site instead of bringing them to the shelter. Although we will accept these cats, the Oregon Department of Agriculture recommends feeding these cats in place and documenting their location as the best way to ensure that owned displaced animals can be reunited with their owner. The shelter does not accept feral/community cats unless they are injured or suffering from illness.
