Joseph Stewart County Park

Campground Loop A will remain open and available for first-come first-serve guests as well as reservations.
Effective Dec. 3, 2021: Water Hookups will be turned OFF for the winter at all the sites in Campground Loop A. The water in the restroom/shower building will remain on for registered campers.

Campground Loops B, C, and D, as well as the Group Camp Areas, are CLOSED for the season.

Joseph H. Stewart Recreation Area overlooks Lost Creek Lake, the popular destination for hikers, bikers, anglers and boaters.

The park is about 40 miles from Crater Lake National Park, and makes an excellent jumping-off point for an exploration of southern Oregon.

Year-round Camping

As of April 1, 2021, Oregon State Parks Discounts and Waivers do not apply to Joseph Stewart Park, due to the park changing operations to Jackson County Parks.

The park offers over 200 campsites, many with RV hookups. Ideally located along the Rogue River, the campground is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the many features the park has to offer. Family-friendly bike paths leading to the day use area, swim beach, resort and other amenities are a great way to spend the day exploring. For those that are more adventurous, the park is a perfect home base to explore the upper Rogue River, Crater Lake and the Southern Oregon Cascades.

Make your Reservations Now ONLINE or call the Parks Office at (541) 774-8183.

Picture yourself in a campsite overlooking the reservoir with wildlife, large conifer trees, and mountains surrounding you.

Joseph Stewart Resort

Boat Ramp Update: Due to the lowering lake level, the Joseph Stewart boat ramp is not usable and is CLOSED.

Only a short bike ride down the campground trail will bring you to the Joseph Stewart Resort. The Resort is in the day use portion of the park and is complete with a camp store, small café, and a marina that offers boat rentals and boat moorage. The Resort is typically open mid-April through October, with hours of operation varying seasonally.

If you are interested in reserving a boat, or a moorage slip please contact the Marina office at (541) 560-3580 during operating hours (listed above).

Boating and Fishing
Lost Creek Lake

A boat ramp and moorage facility in the day-use area serves visiting boaters. Anglers troll the 10-mile-long reservoir all year for trout and bass. A fish cleaning station is located next to the boat launch.

Take a Hike or Ride a Bike

Stretch your legs on 5½ miles of hiking trails and 6 miles of bike paths within the park. The trails connect the day-use area with the campground and connect with other trails outside the park. A trail near the Group Camp restroom crosses a bridge and leads to a small, scenic waterfall.

Joseph Stewart is near the U.S. Forest Service’s Upper Rogue River hiking trail, which connects with the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail near Crater Lake.
