Description:

Jackson County is accepting proposals from qualified experienced contractors who can provide a comprehensive, reliable tow company 24/7 dispatching services for abandoned vehicle and non-preference tows and tow rotation management as needed by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

The deadline for submitting proposals is 4:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) on July 10, 2023.

The current Tow Program consists of eight (8) tow businesses which completed just less than 1,500 tows in 2022. The Proposer selected must be able to manage the tow rotation for both non-preference as well as abandon vehicle tows. Accurate accounting of successful dispatches, refusals, and canceled tows is needed. Timely and regular reports of dispatch activities are mandatory.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office staff will call in to the police tow dispatch to request tows. They will often submit photographs of the scene or GPS coordinates via text. Information submitted to the police tow dispatch by the Sheriff’s Office must be forwarded to the tow companies in an accurate and timely manner. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office staff working in outlying areas of Jackson County may not always have adequate cell phone coverage to call for tows when needed. Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon may communicate with the police tow dispatch to request tows.

It is the County's desire to have the costs related to police tow dispatch covered in whole by the various tow companies participating in the Tow Program.
