East Vilas Road Reconstruction Project - Work Begins May 9th

Summer construction season is here and work is beginning on this important improvement project.  Work will begin on May 9, 2022 and continue through the summer and fall.  This project includes significant work to improve the roadway base, widen the roadway in general, and add a left turn lane at McLaughlin Drive.

Finding alternate routes to avoid the work area is strongly encouraged to avoid delays.  Also, during the project there will be times when full closures are in place to allow work to be done efficiently and safely.  Local traffic and emergency vehicles will still have access during these closures.

Our contractor, Knife River, will be completing the work between Crater Lake Avenue and Foothill Road and we encourage drivers to slow down and be safe.  Workzone accidents can be avoided by obeying traffic control devices and workers.  To help with safety, the speed limit on this section of roadway will be lowered to 35 MPH (normally 45) during the project.  Signs will be changed and the Sheriff's Office will be patrolling this area to help minimize the safety risks.

If you have questions about this project please contact us.
