18-Year-Old Eagle Point Woman Arrested for Attempted Murder, Assault in White City Stabbing

WHITE CITY, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies responded to a fight between two males Sunday night at 10:23 on the 7400 block of Gladstone Avenue in White City. When deputies arrived, they spotted the victim walking along Avenue A covered in blood. Upon closer inspection, deputies discovered multiple lacerations on the victim’s abdomen. JCSO deputies applied pressure to the wounds until Mercy Flights medics arrived and took over life-saving measures. The victim underwent surgery at a local hospital and is in stable condition.
During the altercation, a female suspect allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times with a small pocket knife. The suspect, Samantha Kay Dietrich, 18, of Eagle Point, is in the Jackson County Jail charged with attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault, and two counts of second-degree assault. JCSO detectives are investigating with grand jury scheduled for Thursday. Further information will come from the Jackson County District Attorney’s office.
