Weekend Patrols Net Five DUII's, None Sunday

Jackson County, Ore. -- Jackson County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested five people for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) over the weekend, but none of the arrests occurred on Super Bowl Sunday. Deputies also received no reports of motor vehicle crashes Sunday night.

Deputies arrested three people for DUII on Friday night, and two on Saturday night. Deputies made several traffic stops during and after the big game on Sunday, but found no signs of impairment.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office receives grant funding for extra patrols to focus specifically on impaired driving. Saturation patrols are scheduled for events typically associated with drunk driving, including Super Bowl Sunday. The next planned event will be on St. Patrick's Day -- Saturday, March 17.
