Driver Arrested After Double Fatal Crash
On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, detectives with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office arrested the driver in the April 2, 2014 motor vehicle crash that killed two people. The two-vehicle crash occurred on North River Road, just south of Rogue River. Evidence shows that Lynda Mae Taylor, 32, of Grants Pass was driving recklessly and under the influence of intoxicants.
Joe David Campos, age 40, a passenger in Taylor’s vehicle, died at the scene of the crash. Jerry Vernon Barrett, age 80, the driver of an oncoming vehicle struck by Taylor’s vehicle, died later that night. Taylor herself was hospitalized for weeks due to injuries she sustained in the crash.
Taylor is currently lodged at the Jackson County Jail on charges of Manslaughter in the First Degree X 2, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, and Reckless Driving.
The case will be presented to Grand Jury on Thursday, May 8, 2014.
