Jackson County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Cody Ross Cruse, 37, on three counts of being a felon in possession of a weapon. On March 6, 2018, at 6:39 p.m., a citizen in the 1400-block of Obenchain Road, a rural area west of Butte Falls, called to report a disorderly male confronting residents. Deputies arrived to find Cruse still in the area. They learned that Cruse is currently the respondent on a restraining order and a stalking order, and is prohibited from possessing certain weapons due to a prior felony conviction. Deputies developed information that Cruse had a firearm in his vehicle. They located a rifle, a shotgun, ammunition, and a blackjack. Cruse was arrested and lodged in jail on the above listed charges. The district attorney's office will review the case to determine whether additional charges are warranted.
