JCSO Public Relations Officer / Tuesday, December 6, 2022 / Categories: Press Releases Detectives Arrest Mom After 19-Month-Old Child Overdoses on Fentanyl JCSO Case 22-5434 BUTTE FALLS, Ore. - Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives assisted by Medford Police Department Livability Team arrested a suspect Friday after her 19-month-old child overdosed on fentanyl under her care. The suspect, Desiree Maria Brown, 30, of Butte Falls, was charged with three counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment, four counts of recklessly endangering, and two counts of second-degree child neglect. The incident occurred September 15 at a residence in the 800 block of Derby Road in Butte Falls. The child was given multiple doses of Narcan on scene and later life flighted to a Portland area hospital. After spending multiple days on a Narcan drip, the child remained stable and has since recovered. JCSO Special Victims Unit detectives investigated the incident which led to the arrest of the child’s mother. Jackson County District Attorney’s office will prosecute the case.
