Forest Debris Scattered Throughout Lost Creek Lake
Boaters Should Use Caution
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office wants to warn boaters and fisherman using Lost Creek Lake of the large amounts of debris and wood floating throughout the reservoir. The large quantities of debris is blamed on the heavy rainfall in December. It was noted the rainfall was the second largest inflow of water into the lake. Forest debris, bark, branches, and tree trunks were washed away and are now scattered throughout the lake.
There are three concentrated piles of debris. One near Peyton Bridge, one near the center of the lake, and the other near the dam. However, there are large tree trunks and floating debris strewn throughout the entire reservoir.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office along with the Oregon State Marine Board and the Army Corp of Engineers will continue to monitor the situation. Anyone using the lake during this time is asked to use extreme caution.
