Jail Lobby Damaged by Recently Released Inmate

 

MEDFORD, ORE. (December 12, 2014) On Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 10:43 p.m. Joseph Thomas Hilt, 31, was released from the Jackson County Jail.  After waiting in the lobby for approximately 30 minutes Hilt pushed over the vending machine then sat down inside the lobby again.  When approached by deputies, Hilt he said he wasn’t feeling right in head and that’s why he pushed it over. 

When the vending machine fell it damaged tiles on the lobby floor, broke out the lights inside the machine, all of the trays had slid forward causing some damage, and the power cord was ripped out of the back. 

Dispatch was contacted and a Medford Police Officer arrived to investigate the case.  Hilt was arrested and lodged Hilt for Criminal Mischief 1 and Disorderly Conduct.
