JCSO Public Relations Officer / Tuesday, September 6, 2016 / Categories: News Man Arrested for Raping, Assaulting Teens SAMS VALLEY – Detectives arrested a Sams Valley man on Sunday, September 4, after an investigation revealed he raped one teen and assaulted another. Derek Michael Stout, 23, is charged with the following crimes: rape in the first degree, rape in the third degree, sexual abuse in the first degree, sexual abuse in the third degree, menacing, and assault in the fourth degree. Deputies were alerted to the incident by a 911 call placed at the residence on September 3 at 11:54 pm. The 15-year-old victim reported she had been raped. She fled the residence through a window and sought help at a neighbor’s home. Stout then assaulted the second victim, a 16-year-old girl, and pointed a gun at her. She was able to flee to another neighbor’s home when they heard the incoming sirens. Deputies arrived moments later. Detectives learned that Stout met the teens at a party approximately two weeks prior to the incident. He communicated with them by text message and through Snapchat. On the day of the incident, Stout transported the teens to his home and provided alcohol to them. Based on information gathered in the investigation, detectives believe Stout may have other victims.
