ROGUE RIVER -- A Rogue River man died Monday in a single-vehicle crash south of Wimer. Frederick Fernow Dale, 22, was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

On March 5, 2018, at 11:30 a.m., dispatch received a 911 call reporting the crash. Jackson County Sheriff's Office crash investigators say the black 2000 Jeep Wrangler was traveling northbound on East Evans Creek Road north of Minthorne Road. The Jeep continued straight instead of following the right curve of the roadway. The Jeep continued up an embankment and struck a tree, before going airborne and coming to rest on its top on the back side of a steep hill.

Investigators learned that Dale left his residence in the 6900-block of East Evans Creek Road just prior to the crash. Excessive speed was found to be a factor. It is unknown at this time whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. A toxicology examination will be requested by the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office, standard practice in fatal crashes. Dale's family members have been notified of his death.

JCSO deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Rogue River Police Department, Evans Valley Fire District #6, and Rogue River Fire District #1.
