Sheriff's Deputies Respond to Rural Central Point Shots Fired Call, Suspect Arrested for Attempted Assault, Weapons Charges (Photo)

JCSO Case 23-2147

CENTRAL POINT, Ore. - Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies responded to a shots fired call yesterday in rural Central Point. Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon dispatched JCSO deputies to the 2100 block of Foley Lane just after 5 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies learned of a physical altercation where a single shot was fired. The suspect, Mario Baltazar Quirarte, 49, of Medford, was arrested for first-degree attempted assault, menacing, and unlawful use of a weapon. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail. The handgun was seized as evidence. This case is under further investigation. There is no more information for release at this time.
