Two Killed in Single Vehicle Crash

JACKSONVILLE – On January 12, 2016, at approximately 10:15 pm, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the intersection of Upper Applegate Road and Hamilton Road for a single motor vehicle crash. Both occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.

A gold Buick Rendevouz operated by Cassandre Lynn McClellan, 29, of Medford crashed into a semi trailer that was parked legally on the shoulder of Upper Applegate Road. Witnesses reported the vehicle had been passing other vehicles at a high rate of speed minutes earlier. McClelland and her passenger, Eric William Stanley, 33, of Jacksonville, received extensive injuries.

The crash occurred a short distance from the Applegate Valley Fire District station. Fire personnel were on scene quickly. They determined both occupants were deceased and worked to extricate them from the heavily damaged vehicle.

At this time, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol are factors in the crash. The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine toxicology.
