UPDATE: Victim Identified, Detectives Ask for Public's Help

The victim of the October 30 incident on East Evans Creek Road has been identified as Meadow Boyd, 13, of the 5100-block of East Evans Creek Road. Detectives learned Meadow had been waiting for the school bus at the end of her driveway when the incident occurred. She was found on the ground with an injury by a passerby at 7:29 am. The passerby called 911 and performed CPR until medics arrived.

Meadow was transported by ambulance to Rogue Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for later today at the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office.

Detectives believe Meadow was possibly struck by a vehicle part or by an item attached to or carried upon a vehicle. Investigators believe it is possible the driver was not aware he or she caused injury to Meadow. They ask anyone who drove through the 5100-block of East Evans Creek Road between 6:45 and 7:29 am to check their vehicles for damage and report any issues immediately.

Since the initial report of this incident, we have received several tips. Detectives want to thank those who have called and those who have provided surveillance video from locations between Rogue River and Wimer. They are working to follow up on leads and review video. Detectives still ask anyone who has not yet come forward with information to do so. Calls can be made to dispatch at 541-776-7206.

Jackson County Mental Health staff are working with the Rogue River Junior/Senior High School to provide grief assistance. We would like to thank the investigators, road crews, school officials, chaplains, and citizens who have assisted with this incident.
