EAGLE POINT, Ore. – On Thursday, May 20, at approximately 0723 hours, 911 dispatch received a call reporting a motor vehicle crash at milepost four on Rogue River Drive in Eagle Point, Ore. It was reported two passenger trucks were involved in a collision on the rural, two-lane highway. JCSO deputies responded to the scene to find the driver of a 1999 Ford F-350 “Dually” pickup truck being attended to by medical staff. The driver of the other vehicle was found unresponsive and died at the scene.

The suspect, Robert Taylor, 50, of Gold Hill, Ore., crossed over the double, solid yellow centerline in his ’99 Ford and struck the victim’s truck head-on. Methamphetamines is thought to be a contributing factor in the crash.

Taylor is being charged with first-degree manslaughter, DUII – controlled substance, and reckless driving.
