Here’s a look at some of our activity over this busy weekend!
On Saturday morning, deputies arrested Jaimey Scott Faber, 25, and Ashley Nicole DeLong, 26, at a residence in the 1400-block of S. Obenchain Road. Both had warrants. While there, deputies found a Mercedes-Benz C300 that was reported stolen in Seaside, a loaded handgun, and drugs. Faber and DeLong were lodged in jail on several charges.
On Saturday afternoon, a deputy stopped a car in Central Point. The car turned out to be full of marijuana – literally. The deputy found a total of 42 POUNDS of dried marijuana inside the cab and in the trunk. The driver, Andrew William Long, 39, was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana (felony). For reference, the limit for personal possession of recreational marijuana is eight OUNCES – or one ounce in a public place. Long was also cited for driving uninsured and with a suspended license.
On Sunday, deputies arrested Ricardo Batres-Escobar after a brief standoff at a mobile home park in White City. Deputies had been looking for him since October 11 after he reportedly robbed a White City man while armed with a weapon described as a cattle prod; the case was also featured on Crime Stoppers. He was lodged in jail on charges related to the robbery and on a no-bail probation violation warrant.
It was also a busy weekend for search and rescue! SAR hosted TEEX (Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service) for a three-day Wide Area Search training for regional responders, including SAR volunteers. The training is designed to teach resources to deploy searches over a large area during a major incident or disaster. On Sunday, SAR took part in an ATV training class. ATV’s are used by SAR in many scenarios, including support for ground searches, transportation to remote sites, forest patrol, and to support JCSO at large events. Also Sunday, SAR assisted Medford Police in a search on Roxy Ann Peak when a hiker became lost in the Dry Creek drainage after dark. She was located safe and returned to her vehicle.
Have a great week!
